Rwanda Community Abroad General Directorate

The government of Rwanda has realized the evolving important role of Rwanda Community Abroad in the national development of the country. This importance is envisaged in the diverse sectors of Rwanda such as; Education, Health, Private Sector Development, Trade and Investment, Knowledge transfers, Image building, Culture development, Unit and Reconciliation, Community development, Remittances, etc. The Government of Rwanda reaffirmed its commitment by creating an organ in charge of Rwandan Diaspora on 28th February 2007.The Government further reinforced it into Diaspora General Directorate (DGD) on 20th June 2008.

VISION

‘’United Rwanda Community Abroad dedicated to  and integrated in, the national development of their   motherland.’’

Mission

To mobilize Rwanda Community Abroad for unity/ cohesion among themselves targeted for the promotion of security and socio-economic development of their homeland.

The General Objective

To create a conducive    environment enabling Rwanda Community Abroad to be a strong cohesive community with a constructive relationship with their motherland aiming at national development of  Rwanda.

Strategic Objectives

• To mobilise Active Rwanda Community Abroad for socio-economic Activities of their motherland;
• To Encourage Rwanda Community Abroad to promote their culture and safeguards the interests and privileges of Rwandan Expatriates abroad;
• To mobilise the Rwanda Community Abroad communities abroad for a sustained and organised image building of their motherland;
• To serve as a liaison between different public, private institutions in Rwanda and International Organizations with Rwanda Community Abroad;
• To mobilize expatriate and highly skilled Rwanda Community Abroad on knowledge and skills transfer to Rwanda;
• To create enabling environment for financial investment and remittances, trade for Rwandan Diaspora in Rwanda;
• To coordinate and harmonise different initiatives and activities related to Rwanda Community Abroad in Rwanda.

The  General Directorate of Rwanda Community Abroad also renders many other services that are not mentioned, but it considers to  be beneficial to its community when the need arises.
