| Official Visit of the UNFPA Africa Director to Rwanda |
![]() Mr.Makinwa&Hon.Museminali Mr. Bakinwa explained that the purpose of his first visit to Rwanda was to better understand the progress and performance of the country in terms of development. He also came in Rwanda to discuss with Rwandan leaders ways of strengthening the existing cooperation between UNFPA and the Government of Rwanda. Mr. Bunmi Bakinwa also wished to observe the evolution of the UN Delivering as One process reform. He said the process is running well and UN agencies are satisfied by the direction taken by the Government for this process. Hon. Rosemary Museminali briefly explained the challenges facing Rwanda with regard to the population growth, an issue that requires coordinated efforts from several stakeholders. She said that the UNFPA through its Resident Representative was doing a lot in that issue. Mr. Bankinwa congratulated the Minister for the multi-year funding pledge coming from Rwanda. The multi-year funding is a program of voluntary contributions made by member states to general and supplementary resources of the UNFPA. |
