On September 7, 2009, Hon. Rosemary MUSEMINALI, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation received Mr. Richard BOMBOMA, the Country Director of SIDA, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Mr. Bomboma who is the Head of Mission in Rwanda and Burundi conveyed to the Minister an invitation letter addressed by the Swedish Minister for International Development, Mrs. Grunilla Carlsson, to assist at the European Development Day to be organized from 22nd to 24th October 2009 by the Swedish Government, currently assuming the EU Presidency. The issue of citizenship and climate change will be the most important focus of this event in which Sweden wish Rwanda will participate.
The Swedish Country director also discussed with the Minister about the current situation and future perspectives of the Development cooperation between Rwanda and Sweden. A new country strategy is to be done by October with a special attention to be given by Sweden to the Vision 2020Umurenge. The Swedish Government also envisages supporting regional activities under the CEPGL to further strengthen peace and security in the region. They shared ideas on ways of strengthening peace and stability in the region, focusing on joint development projects rather than just organizing multiple meetings.
