Hon. Minister MUSEMINALI in Egypt |
 The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda Hon. Rosemary MUSEMINALI accompanied by Mr Joseph KABAKEZA Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation in the Ministry, Mr Denis NZABONIMPA, and the representatives from MINICOM, MINISPOC, MINAGRI, MINASANTE and MINEDUC was in CAIRO this 9th and 10th for the Second Session of the Egypt - Rwanda Joint Permanent Commission (JPC). During this session, 10 MoUs in; Economic and Technical Cooperation, Education, Health, Culture, Youth, Technology and Industry Development, Customs, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Scientific Research and Agriculture; have been signed by Minister Rosemary MUSEMINALI and her Egyptian counterpart Hon Ahmed ABOULGHEIT.
It is important to recall that the previous JPC between Egypt and Rwanda was last held in 1984. During the talks the two Ministers exchanged views over the situation of conflicts in Africa, and in particularly the situation in the Great Lakes Region, where they expressed satisfaction over the developments in the region. They also exchanged views on how to improve trade between the two countries to benefit the advantages provided by economic groupings such as COMESA and the EAC. During the visit, Minister Rosemary MUSEMINALI held a conference with Egyptian Business Community and urged them to invest in Rwanda. In her talks the Minister highlighted the priority investments sectors in Rwanda Such as Agricultural Processing, Infrastructure, Mineral Resources and Tourism. She also mentioned the developments in Rwanda particularly the World Bank ranking on Doing Business which named Rwanda as number one reformer by ranking from 148th position to 67th position. The Minister also held talks with the Egyptian Minister of Development and cooperation and the two Ministers discussed how the two countries can cooperate in the framework of South- South Cooperation.
