| Preparatory Meeting for Rwanda-Libya Joint Permanent Commission |
![]() MINAFFET_The Preparatory Meeting for the Rwanda-Libya Joint Permanent Commission was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda on 5th January 2010. In his opening remarks, Ambassador MUNYAKAYANZA Eugène, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign affairs and Cooperation, welcomed the Libyan delegation and wished them a prosperous year. He said that the presence of the Libyan delegation in Rwanda is a sign of the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The cooperation between the Governments of Rwanda and Libya dates far back as the 1960’s after independence. Both countries are already cooperating in different areas like foreign affairs, education, agriculture, security, defense, culture and sports. During the preparatory meeting, both delegations held interactive discussions on the existing bilateral cooperation and other possible areas of cooperation. This meeting is as a result of the discussions held on 29th August 2009 between the Rwandan Premier, Rt. Hon. Bernard MAKUZA and his Libyan counterpart Dr. Baghadadi al-Mahmudi. END |
