Joint Communique from the Visit of Hon Urbino Botelho, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Communities of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, to Rwanda
Official Visit by Hon Urbino Botelho, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Communities of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, to Rwanda, from 09 to 11 March 2017.
At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Rwanda and following the visit of HE Mrs. Louise MUSHIKIWABO, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda in the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe from 05 to 07 January 2017, HE Mr. Urbino BOTELHO, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, paid an official visit to Rwanda from 09 to 11 March 2017.
HE Urbino BOTELHO was accompanied by a delegation of high-level dignitaries, including Mr. Carlos Manuel VILA NOVA, Minister of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment and other experts from São Tomé and Príncipe.
HE Urbino BOTELHO and his delegation visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial and laid a wreath of flowers in tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
The delegation then proceeded to visit the Kigali Special Economic Zone and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). During the visit, the delegation, headed by HE Urbino BOTELHO, was able to inquire about the efforts and progress made by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda to improve the business climate.
The two delegations led by HE Louise MUSHIKIWABO and HE Urbino BOTELHO, held talks aimed at strengthening the excellent relations existing between our two countries. These discussions concluded with the signing of the following agreements:
- Agreement on cooperation in the fields of agriculture and the development of animal resources;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism;
- A Trade Agreement;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of Air Transport;
- Agreement on visa waiver.
Both sides pledged to implement the agreements signed between the two governments aimed at consolidating bilateral relations between Rwanda and São Tomé and Príncipe, as well as promoting South-South Cooperation and strengthening African solidarity.
HE the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Communities of São Tomé and Príncipe, HE Urbino BOTELHO expressed, on his own behalf and on behalf of his delegation, feelings of gratitude to the Government and people of Rwanda for the warm welcome extended to him.
