Rwandan nationals can apply online visa to India
Kigali, 06 April, 2017- From 1 April, 2017, Rwanda has been included in the list of countries whose nationals are eligible for online visas for travels to India. Rwandan nationals can apply for online visa fortourism, business and medical travel for a stay up to maximum of 60 days. Applicants can apply online at least four days before the date of travel with a window of 120 days. That is, if someone apply on 1 May then s/he can select arrival from 5 May to 2 September.
From 19th to 21st February 2017, the Vice President of India, H.E Mohammad Hamid Ansari paid an official three day visit to the Republic of Rwanda. He was accompanied by a high level delegation including a Minister, four members of parliament and high ranking officials of the Government of India as well as a business delegation.
The visit followed the first official visit of His Excellency President Paul Kagame to India in January 2017, during which he participated in the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and held bilateral talks with Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. During the visit, Rwanda and India agreed to elevate their relations to Strategic Partnership and issued a declaration to that effect.
It is following that visit that the agreement on the exemption of visas for free entry for holders of diplomatic and official passports travelling to either country was signed. The recent decision made by the Government of India to include Rwanda on the list of countries whose nationals are eligible for online visas for travels to India, is one more step in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
