I would like to apply for an internship at MINAFFET:

To apply for an internship, kindly send a letter of motivation with a resume (CV) and a copy of your diploma/school transcripts to the Office of the Permanent Secretary at ps@minaffet.gov.rw   copying the Human Resources Unit at hr@minaffet.gov.rw  

 

I applied for a job/internship at MINAFFET and I would like to follow up on the status of my application :

I would like to contact/obtain a visa for a country that does not have an Embassy in Rwanda. How should I proceed?

For a country with an Embassy/High commission accredited to Rwanda but based in East Africa (e.g. Nairobi, Kampala, Dar es Salaam), kindly contact the embassy directly.

 

For a country without an embassy/high commission accredited to Rwanda based in the region, kindly contact the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the guidance and information. You can find the  contact details of all our Rwandan embassies, high commissions and missions abroad on MINAFFET’s website www.minaffet.gov.rw under the tab Diplomatic Missions - Rwandan Embassies Abroad.

 

How long does the legalisation process take?

The legalisation process takes 48 hours.

Days and hours for drop off and pick up are as follow:

Documents dropped off on Monday between 7-10am are picked up on Wednesday between 1-3pm.

Documents dropped off on Wednesday between 7-10am are picked up on Friday between 1-3pm.

 

For power of Attorney, the Ministry will contact you by text message or call once the document is ready for pick up.

 

What are the requirements needed for a document to be legalised?

National documents

For national documents such as certificates of birth, death, marriage, divorce; academic certificates and school’ transcripts; medical records; criminal records or company registration and board resolutions, you should submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of national ID or passport for both the owner and the person requesting (in case they are different)
  2. The document to be legalized, previously stamped and signed by the Notary of the Ministry of Justice

 

In addition to the above, you should also submit:

  • For and documents: a copy of the land registration documents (UPI)
  • For vehicles documents: a copy of the proof of vehicle ownership
  • For company documents: a copy of the company registration document

 

International documents

For international documents to be used in Rwanda such as bank statements; company board resolutions; proof of ownership documents; ownership transfer documents or vehicle registration documents, you should submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of national ID or passport for both the owner and the person requesting (in case they are different)
  2. The original power of attorney previously stamped and signed by the Rwandan diplomatic mission covering the country of residence, not exceeding 6 months from the date of emission
  3. The documents to be legalized, previously stamped and signed by the Notary of the Ministry of Justice

 

In addition to the above, you should also submit:

  • For land documents: a copy of the land registration documents (UPI)
  • For vehicles documents: a copy of the proof of vehicle ownership
  • For company documents: a copy of the company registration document

 

Power of Attorney

For a power of attorney, you should submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of national ID or passport for both the owner and the person requesting (in case they are different)
  2. The original power of attorney previously stamped and signed by the Rwandan diplomatic mission covering the country of residence, not exceeding 6 months from the date of emission

 

Recommendation letter (To Whom It May Concern)

For a recommendation letter, you should submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of Rwandan ID or passport
  2. Copy of the foreign passport
  3. Copy of the consular card
  4. Registration form, previously stamped and signed by the District Notary

 

Kindly note that this if for Rwandans living abroad only.

 

Proof of residence abroad

For a proof of residence abroad, you should submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of Rwandan ID or passport
  2. Copy of the foreign passport
  3. Copy of the consular card

I travelled outside of Rwanda for a job offer but it did not go well and I am now stuck abroad. What kind of assistance can I get?

Kindly contact the nearest Rwandan embassy/high commission to get assistance. They can facilitate with administrative papers requirements needed to come back home. However, they will not provide financial assistance.

 

I am a Rwandan stranded abroad because of COVID-19. What can I do to be repatriated?

Kindly contact the nearest Rwandan embassy/high commission who are in charge of coordinating all repatriation and send an email to rca@minaffet.gov.rw for follow up. However, they will not provide financial assistance.

 

I am a foreigner stranded in Rwanda because of COVID-19. What can I do to return to my home country?

The Kigali International Airport is now open. Several airlines are operating. Kindly contact one of the airlines for more details.

 

I have a case involving a foreigner. What is the process?
