Minister Vincent Biruta's official visit to Ghana

Minister Vincent Biruta was in Ghana for a 2-day official visit, from Monday 2 to Tuesday 3 November 2020.

On the first day, Minister Biruta was received by his counterpart, Mrs. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. They discussed the strong relations their countries enjoy and discussed areas of common interest. The meeting was concluded by the signing of a General Cooperation Agreement between Rwanda and Ghana.

Later that day, Minister Biruta also met with Mr. Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement. They discussed the continent's integration agenda and trade opportunities under the AfCFTA.

In the evening, Minister Biruta met with the Rwandan community living in Ghana for dinner. They exchanged on several topics including the role of the Diaspora in reinforcing ties between their country of origin and their host country as well as their contribution to the development of Rwanda wherever they are.

On the second day of his official visit, Minister Biruta was received for a courtesy call on H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana.

Minister Biruta also had lunch with the Ghanean private sector to discuss business and investment opportunities between the two countries.

After this echange, accompanied by Minister Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister Biruta officially opened the Embassy of Rwanda to Ghana.

Rwanda and Ghana enjoy strong relations and this official visit contributed to further strengthen our bilateral relations.
