MINAFFET RECEIVES YOUNG RWANDANS LIVING IN SOUTH AFRICA
Kigali, 8 October 2025 – The Permanent Secretary, Clementine Mukeka, welcomed a group of young Rwandans who live in South Africa. They have arrived in Rwanda on 3 October for a 10-day Youth Connection Tour.
In her remarks, PS Mukeka warmly welcomed the youth and encouraged them to explore, reconnect with their roots, and think about their contribution in building and telling Rwanda’s story.
“You might have heard some stories about Rwanda from social media, from news. I am so glad that you are here to see it by yourself, to feel it and to breathe it. It is only when you see that you can have your own story. […] Rwanda carries a message of unity, dignity that you often feel when you visit the country,” stated PS Mukeka.
She invited them to stay proud telling the story, as they are now part of it, when they go back to South Africa.
“I invite you to really ask yourself along the way, where you fit in that story, what you can contribute to the story, what we can use, what you have learned here to help build something else, because as we are building Rwanda’s story, you are also having a big part to play.” She emphasized.
During the interaction, discussions focused on how to learn Kinyarwanda, how to acquire citizenship and job opportunities in Rwanda. They were also briefed on programs to attract more investors and tourists like Visit Rwanda.
