Directorate General of Europe, America & International Organisations

The Directorate General of Europe, America and International Organizations is responsible for bilateral and multilateral relations with European and American countries, as well as the UN and other international development organizations. The Department ensures that relations are maintained and strengthened through political dialogue and engagements on different topics of mutual interest including political, cultural, scientific, social and economic issues. Political dialogue and engagements are conducted through bilateral meetings/consultations; exchange of high level and technical visits, parliamentary visits, as well as economic missions. The Department also supports the coordination of development and economic cooperation programs between Rwanda and international partners in the Department’s jurisdiction, e.g. implementation of development cooperation programs/projects; negotiations and signing of cooperation agreements in different sectors.

Ms Marie Grâce Nyinawumuntu

Director General, Europe, Americas and International Organizations

Ms Marie Grâce Nyinawumuntu is the Director General of Europe, Americas and International Organizations, since February 2024.From 2020 to 2023, Ms Nyinawumuntu was the first counselor of the Embassy of Rwanda in Brussels, a post she joined after serving five years in Addis Ababa as second counselor. In previous assignments at the Headquarters, she served in the protocol department, and was part of Kwibuka20 secretariat.

Ms Nyinawumuntu has a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Université Libre de Bruxelles.Outside of work, Ms Nyinawumuntu enjoys cultural events, and spending time with family. She speaks fluently Kinyarwanda, French, English, with a good command of Dutch.
