MINISTER BIRUTA JOINS RESIDENTS OF KIGALI CITY IN A SPECIAL UMUGANDA

Kigali, 26 November 2022 – Rwanda Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta joined residents of Kigali City to plant trees during the special community work (Umuganda) on the hill of Mburabuturo, Kigarama Sector, Kicukiro District.

The Umuganda was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in Rwanda in line with the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Congo and the 47th anniversary of the Tree planting Day.  

It was attended by residents of the City of Kigali, Rwanda Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Members of the Diplomatic Corps based in Kigali, Rwanda Ministry of Environment, City of Kigali, and the community from the Republic of Congo living in Rwanda among others.  

In his remarks, Minister Biruta recognized the efforts made by the organizing Embassy. He also congratulated the Republic of Congo on the 64th anniversary of its proclamation.

Guy Nestor Itoua, Ambassador of the Republic of Congo to Rwanda thanked the Government of Rwanda for having allowed the Republic of Congo to celebrate the highly significant event for the process of sovereignty and added that both counties enjoy excellent relations for more than 40 years.

Rwanda and the Republic of Congo have cooperation agreements in various areas including the environment.
