Rwanda marks commonwealth day 2024

  News

Monday, 11 March 2024 - Rwanda joins more than 2.5 billion citizens of the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth around the world in celebrating the Commonwealth Day, under the theme "One resilient common future: Transforming our common wealth".

The celebration was marked with a session aimed at raising awareness on environmental resilience and marine sustainability. Dr. Mujawamariya Jeanne d’Arc graced the celebration as the guest of honour. In her remarks, she highlighted the role of young people in climate action and conservation.

“Young people, you are nature’s guardians, you hold the responsibility of being future stewards of our land. Embrace this role, recognizing that every action you take contributes to the well-being of our environment. Show love to nature and wildlife, and you will be rewarded by a resilient ecosystem for a common future. Their wellbeing is interconnected with ours,” Minister Mujawamariya emphasized.

The event took place at Nyandungu Eco-Park, where more than 60 schoolchildren  from Kigali Parents’ School learned about the wetland rehabilitation efforts.
